Shimla
This summer capital of India is named after its local diety 'Shyamala'.

Attractions :
Jakhu Hill
The hill is the highest peak of Shimla and is located at a height of 8000 ft. Visitors can enjoy the splendid view of the snow covered Himalayas and the town from this hill. Atop the hill, one can also see an old temple of Lord Hanuman which is home to numerous monkeys.
Shimla State Musuem
The museum reflects the cultural heritage of the state and was opened in 1974. It has a collection of minitiature paintings, sculptures, wood carvings, costumes, textiles and jewellery of the region.
Kufri
It is close to Shimla and is situated at an altitude of 8,600 ft. It is known for its winter sports and one can see thousands of tourists enjoying skiing here during January and February. This lovely place has developed into an ideal picnic spot and is surrounded by lush green hills and snow covered mountains.
Christ Church
It is the second oldest church in northern India and is the important landmark of Shimla. It stands on the Ridge, in the main shopping centre and is known for its majestic appearance. Inside the church one can see elaborate stained glass windows representing faith, hope, charity, fortitude, patience and humility.

The hill station lies at an elevation of 7238 ft. above sea level on an area of 18 sq km. It stands in the north-west Himalayas in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Best Time To Visit :
To enjoy the beauty of Shimla one must plan the tour during the summers especially between April and October. Those who are interested in winter sports they must visit the hill station from November to January.
