About Ranthambore National Park:
The Ranthambore National Park is India's most finest and popular among
all the parks. It is located in the north western part of Rajasthan
close to the town of Sawai Madhopur district. It is bounded by Vindhya
and Aravali hill ranges and is very near to the outer border of Thar
desert. Hence the entire area has parts of desert land as well plain
area. Ranthambore National Park used to be hunting grounds of the royal
Maharajas of Jaipur. Due to this reason it was declared as a game sanctuary
in 1955 and in 1980 it was considered as a national park under Project
tiger scheme. Other sanctuaries where tigers could also be seen are
the Kaila Devi sanctuary and the Mansingh sanctuary. home. Each saloon
has personal attendants or Khidmatgars, who are at your beck and call
to extend a courteous helping hand, should you need anything.
Ranthambore National Park covers an area of 400 sq kms. Ranthambore park is beautiful designed with azure lakes and rivers and steep mountains. On the top of one of these hills is the elaborate and attractive Ranthambor fortress built in 10th century , for which the Ranthambore National Park has been named. The terrain is rugged. Ranthambore offers a blend of green and dense forest. Rantambore forest is of dry deciduous type which was once part of rich jungles of Central India.
The Ranthambore forest offers a variety of species of trees such as dhok, papal, mango and banyan but most abundant and prominent is Dhok. At the foot of the Ranthambore fort lies the path that goes straight to the entrance of the forest. Jogi Mahal is the only rest house in the entire forest. Other attraction of the forest includes the the Raj Bagh Talab, Malik Talab and the Padam Talab( the largest lake in the forest ) which are some of the turquoise lakes. Ranthambore is famous for tigers. Here you can see large number of Tigers in their natural habitat either spotting near the lakes or roaming in their specific grounds even during the daytime. Apart from tigers Ranthambore is also home to different animals. Ranthambore has intense diversity of flora and fauna that includes vast variety of wildlife species such as peapocks , sloth bear, jackals, leopard, jungle cat and large species of birds. It is also a good place for tourists as well as Photographers. The best time to visit this park is during the month of October to March and April to June.
