Air: The nearest airport is at Patna, 198 kms away

Rail: Gaya is the nearest railhead at 13 kms.

Road: The main bus stand in Bodhgaya is behind the Mahabodhi Temple and there are regular buses to Patna, Nalanda, Rajgir and Varanasi. Auto rickshaws move between Gaya and Bodhgaya also.

Shopping: While at Bodhgaya you can shop for the Hindu and Buddist terracotta handicrafts, beads items, semi precious stones, jewelry items, stone and bronze sculptures of Gods and Goddesses. Bihar's most famous indigenous artwork is the Madhubani paintings that the tourists never miss on his visit to this place.

Festivals: Buddha Jayanti is the major festival celebrated on a full moon day in April/May as Buddha's birth anniversary as well as enlightenment. People celebrated this festival with great interest and enthuiasm every year. Another festival Nyingma Monlam Chenmo is held in January-February for about three weeks, this festival is celebrated for world peace often attended by the Dalai Lama as well.
