About Bandhavgarh National Park:
The Bandhavgarh National Park is situated in the district of sahdol
in Madhya Pradesh.It lies amidst the Vindhyan ranges. This park was
once private hunting grounds for great Maharajas of Rewa. Today it is
permanent residence of Tigers specially white tigers. The density of
population of white tigers is highest in Bandhavgarh National Park.
The terrain is broken, with great rocky hills emerging from swampy and
densely forested valleys. The Bandhavgarh National Park was declared
as the National Park in 1968.
Bandhavgarh National Park(Attractions):
Major area of the forest is covered with Sal trees along with small stands of bamboos and grasslands that extend in the North. Extensive stands of mixed forest are found in the higher hills. The forest of Bandhavgarh is of moist deciduous type and holds all those animal species that are favourable in this vegetation . Bandhavgarh National Park is actually home to white tigers but others species of animals are also seen here.
The flora and fauna of Bandhavgarh National Park is dense that includes wide variety of wildlife species with 22 species of animals and 150 species of birds . Common animals seen here are Muntajac, Jungle Cat, Ratel, Jyena, Porcupine, the Rhesus Macaque and the back-faced Langur. In this park both migratory and non migratory birds can be seen. Non migratory birds include the Brown Fish Owl, Malabar Pied Hornbill and Shahin Falcon and migratory birds include steppe eagle and various water birds that come in winter season.
There are numerous caves and steep hills in the park . The major attraction of this park is the Bandhavgarh Fort that lies on a plateau and is about 800 m high and 2000 years old. You can reach this fort after a steep climb. The Bandhavgarh Fort has now become ruined as it provides shelter for wildlife such as Black Bucks. From this fort you can see the panoramic view of the whole forest.
