Pushkar Tourism Information
Surrounded by hills on three sides and situated on the fringe of a desert, Pushkar is one of the famous pilgrimage spot of the Hindus and is famous for its lake. It is said that once, when Lord Brahma went out on a search for a tranquil spot for performing a ceremonial sacrifice a lotus fell from his hand and a lake itself appeared from the ground. There are more than 400 temples in this city and the picturesque sites of these temples however make the city more attractive. Among these 400 temples the Lord Brahma temple which is supposed to be the only abode of Lord Brahma in the world is of most significance and attracts a huge gathering of people frequently.
The city of Pushkar is one of the better tourists spot in the state of Rajasthan. Along with temples there is many more worth seeing places and the Pushkar Fair which makes this city even more attractive for the tourists. Some of the attractive features of this wonderful city are: -
Man Mahal: - The palace was built by the famous Raja Man Singh. He wanted to use the palace during his visit to Amer and Pushkar. Nowadays it is works as a tourist bungalow. Near to it is the Pushkar Palace which is today a heritage hotel.
Pushkar Cattle Fair: - Held somewhere between the months of October and November this cattle fair is one of the largest in the state of Rajasthan. Thousands and thousands of human beings and breasts come together in this fair. Camel racing and Camel Polo are the major attractions of this fair for the tourists.
Brahma Temple: - This is considered to be the only significant temple where “creator of the universe” is worshipped in the world. The lovely temple marble floors, stairs and coins are the major attraction of the temple.
Pushkar Lake: - This is one of the most important pilgrim spots for the Hindus. This lake is devoted to Lord Brahma and is surrounded by about 500 temples, 52 places and 52 ghats. Every year in karthik purnima which comes in the month of November, this place is a must watch because of the massive gathering for the Pushkar fair.
Anybody who is out on a tour to Rajasthan would always like to visit this sacred place of the Hindus. A bath in the holy lake or a visit of the biggest cattle fair or worshipping the only abode of Lord Brahma is always an achievement in one’s life.
