Pathanamthitta is a very popular town in the core of the Central Kerala. The place is the administrative center of the district of Pathanamthitta. With a population of around 38,000, the place is also known as the 'Pilgrimage Capital of Kerala'. It is developing as a business center with a great pace and is the main transport nucleus to the Hindu pilgrimage center, Sabarimala. Pathanamthitta is a cosmopolitan town where people of different religions reside in harmony.
This town is a great cultural zone and the places that share the cultural influence are Vazhamuttom, Pandalam, Kadammanitta, Kodumon, MylapraThumpamon, Manjinikara, Omallur etc. All these places are within 15 km radius of Pathanamthitta and are frequented by the people of religious faith regularly. The famous Chettikulangara temple which is in Mavelikkara is quite popular among the pilgrims.
Pathanamthitta is profusely blessed by the Mother Nature with majestic water falls, mystic woods, lush green plains and sky high mountains. It is a feast for our eyes at every nook and corner of this place. Konni is a village township 11 km from the Pathanamthitta town. The wild animals in the acres of dense forests have made Konni a tourist spot among the safaris and trekkers. These wild animals have added incredible excitement to the forest safari. The trekkers enjoy inexplicable picturesque view and sights from the top of the hills. Another tourist spot that is very popular is the beautiful Perunthenaruvi Water Falls which is 15 km from the Pathanamthitta Town. It is on the western frontier of the Sahyadri Range which bears the majestic waterfall.
