Famous as the Land of Looms and Lores, Kannur is a town in the state of Kerala. It lies to the east of the Arabian Sea. During the British rule in India, Kannur use to be the headquarters of the British military. It was known as Cannanore during the British reign which was its Portuguese name. Different research statistics declare Kannur to be one of the India’s ten best for the purpose of living. It happens to be Kerala’s most urbanized city and is the second largest district of Kerala after the Ernakulam district.
Kannur district has marked its contributions in the history of Indian freedom struggle. Kannur has a variety of aquatic features and offers a number of beautiful tourist destinations in the form of beaches, bays and islands some of which are Payyambalam Beach, Meenkunnu Beach, Baby Beach, Mopila bay, Kizhunna Azhara Beach and Dharamdam Island.
