Jaipur Tourism Information
Well-known as the capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur holds a massive place in the history of the state. Popularly called the ‘Pink City’, it was founded in 1727 by the king of Amber. It is considered to be a major urban centre of Rajasthan as it houses the most modern of facilities coupled with the most ancient of monuments.
It is the first planned city of India which was organized by the architects of the ruler of Amber, who had decided to shift his capital from Amber to Jaipur owing to the water scarcity and the population problems which were arising in his capital. Since that shift, Jaipur has gained a permanent status as the capital city.
The architecture of Jaipur is recognized worldwide. Right from the famous Albert Hall Museum to the celebrated Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal, the monuments of Jaipur capture the essence of the city’s culture as also the attention of the beholder.
Visiting Jaipur without going to the Laxmi-Narayan temple is just half the pleasure. Surrounded by beautiful tress and marked by huge domes, the temple arrests the viewer’s attention and renders splendid doses of spirituality. The royal palace of Jaipur, which is still inhabited by the Royal family, is one of the greatest wonders of the pink city. A recently conducted international survey named Jaipur to be the 7th best place to visit in the Asian continent. Supported by state of the art infrastructure and encircled by forts and temples, Jaipur, in itself is a marveling wonder!
