Bikaner district lies in the north-western parts of Rajasthan and the Bikaner city is the executive headquarters of the city. Bikaner is the fourth largest city of Rajasthan and is popularly known as the Green City of the state. The city has been awarded this title due to the agricultural enhancement which took place owing to the completion of Ganga Canal and Indira Gandhi Canal Projects. Rao Bika founded this city in the year 1486 which later became the capital of the princely state of Bikaner.
