Vasco da Gama had landed on this island in May, 1498 along with 170 other men, packed in three carrying vessels. A secluded pillar commemorating the historical event of Vasco da Gama's landing has also been constructed here. The crystal azure of the Pookot Lake, The sight of the Thali Temple which is as much as 800 years old and yet still standing upright and the much-talked-of colossal rock are not to be missed.
